Details: There are many ways to hurt oneself. Smoking, sexual behavior, food abuse, emotional abuse, as well as suicide are responses to unbearable pain and feelings of being worthless and trapped.  Kids don't realize that most crises are temporary and that their lack of power will improve with time. This sensitive look at suicide and other self-destructive behavior is discussed by the Tree of Life teens and is centered around three key questions:  What is self-destruction and how is it related to low self-esteem? Is society causing teens to self-destruct?  Why do kids commit suicide?  Suicide is final:  you don't come back is one of many blunt and honest contributions made by these very wise and experienced young people.
